On Wednesday, February 25, 2015, Connecticut Public held a celebration to reveal the newly renovated Larry J. Lunden Newsroom. The evening was a casual, yet important party for WNPR, showcasing the refurbished newsroom to the public.
In opening remarks, Jerry Franklin, CPBN’s President and CEO, discussed how the company is prepared to meet the demands of multimedia. “The innovative multimedia newsroom will ensure that WNPR remains the leader of producing the best content in news and information in the state of Connecticut,” said Franklin. Nancy Wyman, Connecticut’s Lieutenant Governor said a few words as well as John Dankosky, WNPR News Director, who acknowledged and thanked the WNPR reporters and producers for their hard work and dedication.
The event celebrated the donors who provided funding for the new newsroom including lead donor, Larry Lunden. Luis Clemens and Keith Woods, NPR Representatives and Pedro Segarra, Mayor of Hartford also attended.
The multimedia newsroom, located at CPBN, is home to WNPR’s award-winning radio shows, Where We Live and the Colin McEnroe Show. Friar Associates Inc. oversaw construction of the multimedia newsroom which began in the fall of 2014.
