HARTFORD, Conn. (December 29, 2015) – WNPR today announces the exciting addition of two new programs to its weekly radio schedule: The New Yorker Radio Hour and Reveal. These additions highlight WNPR’s mission to provide the citizens of Connecticut with stimulating news, talk, information, and entertainment programming.
The New Yorker Radio Hour is a national radio program and podcast co-produced by The New Yorker and WNYC Studios. The show, which features provocative ideas, storytelling, and thought-provoking narrative, includes New Yorker writers, artists, and editors. Episodes include interviews with actress Amy Shumer, activist Gloria Steinem, and MacArthur “genius” Ta-Nehisi Coates. Hosted by the magazine’s editor David Remnick, The New Yorker Radio Hour will air on WNPR Sundays at 10 a.m., beginning January 10, 2016.
Reveal is the Peabody Award-winning investigative journalism partnership between the Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR), PRX, and public radio stations. This hour-long program features groundbreaking reporting from CIR, as well as stories from public radio stations and a wide range of media partners, both nonprofit and commercial. Hosted by award-winning journalist Al Letson, Reveal will air on WNPR Sundays at 7 p.m., beginning January 10, 2016.
“The New Yorker Radio Hour has been anxiously awaited by public radio fans for years,” said John Dankosky, Vice President of News and Host of WNPR’s Where We Live. “We’re so happy that WNYC has made this program possible. It’s a perfect complement for your Sunday morning newspaper and coffee.”
“Reveal shows public radio’s growing commitment to investigative journalism,” Dankosky continued. “Not only will this program tell you stories you won’t hear anywhere else, but Reveal will be working with newsrooms like WNPR’s to investigate what’s happening in your community.”
