HARTFORD, Conn. (September 8, 2015) – Connecticut Public has named Christina Warchol of New Hartford, Connecticut as this year’s recipient of the CPBN Scholarship Award. Christina is a senior at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, majoring in Film, Television, and Media Arts, working towards a career in television production.
Eligible candidates for the $1,500 annual scholarship include college students residing in Connecticut who plan to pursue a career in media studies. Warchol was selected as the recipient of the scholarship based on a cumulative look at her grades, volunteer service, recommendations, and a 300-word essay explaining how her planned studies will aid her pursuit of a career in television production.
“We’re always so impressed by the talents of our scholarship candidates, and Christina has continued that tradition,” says Carol Sisco, CPBN’s Vice President and Executive Director of Television Programming and Acquisitions. “Her accomplishments in the fields of film and video are outstanding, and we’re so pleased to award her with this scholarship to further her education in video production.”
Warchol currently serves as the Director of Promotions for the Quinnipiac Film Society, the Associate Producer for Q30 Television, and is a member of the Lambda Pi Eta Communication Honor Society. Her knowledge of video and media production, among other activities and professional experience, contributed to her selection.
The presentation of CPBN’s Scholarship provides the organization with the opportunity to support its educational mission as well as recognize talented students who are pursuing careers in the media.
