January 31 @ 12:45 pm - 2:00 pm EST
The University of Hartford will commemorate the life and legacy of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 12:45 p.m. in Lincoln Theater. The 2024 theme is “Love: Hate Is Too Great A Burden to Bear.” The observance will include the presentation of the 2024 MLK Beloved Community Awards.
The annual observance provides an opportunity for our community to pause and reflect on the work and impact of Dr. King, while recommitting to the goal of showing empathy, respect, and understanding toward one another in an effort to make the world a better place.
The 2024 observance program will include student performances, a special keynote address from the Honorable Richard A. Robinson, the first African American Chief of the Connecticut Supreme Court, and the presentation of the 2024 MLK Beloved Community Awards.
The annual MLK observance program is free and open to the public.
