June 22 @ 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm EDT
This photography exhibition captures the heart and spirit of a place and time that no longer exists. The 1970’s were the twilight years of organized labor and local diners. Over a three year period between 1974 – 1977, then college student Andrew Satter documented the men and women –predominantly blue collar workers — who worked at or frequented Russ’s Kitchenette Diner. This was an incredibly tight community that laughed, joked, and shared joy with each other, five days a week, some for more than thirty years. Presumed lost in 1980, Satter discovered hundreds of these photographs last summer in an unmarked box in his basement.
