The Cookers is a septet of jazz greats from the 1960s and later. Individually, they were members of some of the most important ensembles of the era, such as Herbie Hancock, Charles Lloyd, Keith Jarret, Max Roach, and Art Blakey. The group has been together for 17 years and has recorded six critically-acclaimed albums. Each member has spent time leading his own series of groups, and each has a keenly individual sound. But the power of their teamwork make them so commanding and essential to hear, if you love jazz!
The Cookers are: Eddie Henderson – Trumpet, David Weiss – Trumpet, Donald Harrison – Alto Sax, Craig Handy – Tenor Sax, Geoffrey Keezer – Piano, Cecil McBee – Bass, Billy Hart – Drums.
