Create a set of puzzle pieces and use them to design a series of exciting prints, or a set of postcards or greeting cards.
Using a rectangle of thin foam, students will cut it into shapes like a puzzle and carve designs on both sides. Non-toxic inks are applied to the surface of the puzzle pieces and then they can be stamped onto paper one-by-one, or arranged together in various compositions and printed using hand pressure on the back of the paper or with one of CAW’s intaglio presses. The printmaking paper can be any color and some papers have unusual textures and patterns.
It is amazing how many different designs can be made with just a few shapes and lots of color. Sometimes designs become visual stories told from print to print. There is no end to the possibilities, especially if participants decide to share their puzzle pieces!
Tuition for this class includes a fee of $20 for basic materials provided by CAW.
