Lee Appalachian Trail Community Designation Ceremony

This AT Community Designation is being presented to the Town of Lee by the Appalachian Trail Conservancy in recognition for the town’s support of Appalachian Trail conservation and in support of the valuable services and support that Lee provides to the hikers that wander the trail.

Launched in 2010, The Appalachian Trail Community program of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy recognizes communities for their support in promoting awareness of the A.T. as an important national asset. AT Community Designation increases local stewardship of public lands, supports community initiatives for sustainable economic development and conservation planning and supports healthy lifestyles for community citizens.

Lee now joins the towns of Great Barrington, Cheshire, Dalton, and North Adams as a designated trail community along the A.T. Lee’s goal is to support thru-hikers in their journey, with all the re-supply services that Lee has to offer. Hikers come from all over the U.S and internationally to hike the A.T., and we hope when they leave our lovely New England town, they will have fond memories of the hospitality and friendships they encountered during their visit.
