Hartford Symphony Orchestra: Brahms’ First

November 15 @ 8:00 pm - November 17 @ 5:00 pm EST

Under the leadership of Music Director Carolyn Kuan, this concert features cellist Inbal Segev bringing Elgar’s poignant Concerto for Cello in E minor to life. Written in the aftermath of World War I, the concerto is introspective and melancholy, delivering a hauntingly beautiful and contemplative experience. The concert culminates with Brahms’ Symphony No. 1 in C minor, op. 68, a powerful and triumphant work that showcases the full grandeur and intensity of the orchestra. This symphony reflects Brahms’ deep reverence for Beethoven while showcasing his unique voice.
