Durham CT – Birding for Pleasure and the New Haven Bird Club has announced the first Connecticut Bobolink and Wildlife Festival. The Festival on July 13 will start at 8:00 and end at 4:15 at locations throughout Durham. This free event, will bring together some of the best experts and artists in Connecticut, is a celebration of the rich grasslands of Durham that is home to a number of endangered birds and butterflies.
Attendees will have an opportunity to go on a bird-nature walk to learn about Bobolinks and other grassland birds and butterflies at the Frederick White Farm. The festival moves to the Durham Community Center at 10:00 for presentations on bird migration and birding by sound, displays by partner organizations, and free raffles. Later at 2:00 pm at the Kalmia Garden at Gastler Farm attendees can develop their art and observations skills and become a nature journalist. Learn from experienced art instructors Alicia Shogry and Jan Wenzel.
