A Gathering to Remember Robert Bloom, Eminent American Oboist

Seventeen prominent musicians are gathering to commemorate the life and work of eminent American oboist, Robert Bloom with taped and live performances at Yale’s Battell Chapel in New Haven, corner of Elm and College, handicap accessible. The Concert is open and free to the public, unreserved seating.
Robert was Professor of Oboe at the Yale School of Music and the Hartt School of Music in CT, at the Juilliard School in NYC, as well as at numerous summer festivals.聽 His performance and recording career spanned 5 decades, beginning with his appointment to the Philadelphia Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Leopold Stokowski, followed by the NBC Symphony under Arturo Toscanini, and the Bach Aria Group under Artistic Director William H. Scheide as well as solo appearances through America and abroad.聽 A reviewer for the Salt Lake City聽Deseret News聽wrote, “To hear the almost unbelievably imaginative penetration of such virtuosos as Mr. Bloom, who gave us things we had never before heard from an oboe, is one of the great aesthetic privileges of our time.”
