Diabetes an epidemic that affects 100 million Americans, costing over $350 billion annually. According to the American Diabetes Association, diabetes and prediabetes cost an estimated $4 billion in Connecticut each year.
The serious complications are notoriously difficult to control and include heart disease, stroke, amputation, end-stage kidney disease, blindness – and death.

According to the American Diabetes Association, Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes have different causes. You inherit a predisposition to the disease, then something in your environment triggers it. Unlike Type 1, Type 2 diabetes can be prevented or delayed by maintaining a healthy weight and following a healthy, active lifestyle.
