Astronomy for Everyone

March 30 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDT

On April 8th, 2024 CT will experience an almost total Solar Eclipse.  This presentation will cover safety precautions, including proper use of a telescope to view the eclipse.  Also we will describe how an eclipse occurs, a bit of history about previous eclipses, what the Sun, our very own star is actually doing.  Finally we’ll talk about how to photograph the event with a telescope and what to look for. Our presenter is Geoff McLean, a NASA Solar System Ambassador, member of the Thames Amateur Astronomical Society, Lead Night Sky Ranger for The Last Green Valley, and avid amateur astronomer and astrophotographer.
