Knox Preserve in Stonington is a former farm that runs along Quiambog Cove. With sweeping views of old orchards, fields, and of course the cove itself, it’s an idyllic place for an painting outdoorss. Avalonia Land Conservancy, which owns the Preseve, will host a free “en plein air” painting event on Saturday, September 9, from 9 a.m to 11:30. Avalonia’s Office Manager Mary Anne Sherman will lead artists on a short hike thorough the preserve to spots overlooking the meadows and the water. Artists of all skill levels and mediums are welcome.
Participants are encouraged to bring water, bug spray, and sunscreen as well as their own easel and painting equipment. Registration is required as space is limited. For more information, or to register visit Avalonia.org. For any questions, email avalonialc@yahoo.com or call the office at 860-884-3500
This is the first of 2 “Paint the Preserve” events planned for this summer and fall. The second will be at Preston Nature Preserve on October 2.
