“Then and Now” Family Day Tours

This summer, Capitol Information and Tours at the Connecticut State Capitol is partnering with Connecticut’s Old State House to offer free “Then and Now” Family Days on Friday, July 28th and August 25th from 10 am to 5 pm.

  • Take a special “Then and Now” themed guided tour of the Connecticut State Capitol at 10:15, 11:15, or 1:15.
  • Enjoy structured interpretation at Connecticut’s Old State House anytime between 10 am and 5 pm (last entry is at 4 pm). Admission is free for family day participants.
  • Explore the Old State House Farmer’s Market from 10 am – 2 pm and listen to live music on the Old State House’s West patio from 12-1 pm.
  • Take a guided tour of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument Arch in Bushnell Park between 12 and 1 pm.
  • Pick up a free activity book with scavenger hunts, word puzzles, fun facts, and more!

This event is suitable for children and adults of all ages. Participants will learn about state government and the history of the State Capitol and Old State House. Special “Then and Now” tours at the Capitol will focus on the differences in government and architecture in the Capitol between 1878, when it first opened, and current day.
