Join Critical Mass New London on the last Friday of each month!
This is an easy 6-mile cruise around town to celebrate cycle culture and increase rider visibility.
Wear bright colors, lights, bells, and costumes! Music welcome! Make noise! Prizes for best-lit bike and best costume.
“This is a great opportunity to ride with a group and to celebrate cycle culture,” says organizer Sunny Bosco. “Wear bright colors and lights and costumes. It’s a party on wheels.”
The “Final Friday” tour is a mostly flat slow roll open to all riders. Please ensure bikes are in good working order. Obey traffic laws, stay to the right, call out hazards, and help newbies.
Critical Mass is an international cycling movement founded in San Francisco in 1992. Critical Mass group rides are held on the last Friday of the month in more than 400 cities around the world.
The ride also functions as advocacy, Bosco says, in order to remind drivers that cyclists are also using the roads and, as a result, increase rider safety.
The group meets at 6 p.m. in the municipal parking lot in New London on Eugene O’Neill Drive near Golden Street. The ride begins at 6:30 p.m. and lasts about an hour.
A post-ride social is at the Hygienic Art Park on Bank Street.
The event is free and open to all riders. No signup is necessary.
