November 2 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm EDT
“Thinning of the Veil: reconnecting with the lost” is a moving concert that incorporates dance with the beautiful sound of choral singing. During this time of the year, many cultures believe the veil between the living and the dead is thin (commemorations such as Halloween, Samhain, Dia de los Muertos, and All Souls Day). Since the loss of a loved one is a universal experience, we crafted a concert that explores stories and harmonies that allow space to process loss, feel comfort, and find connection. The performance will feature performances by Voices of Concinnity, Connecticut’s versatile vocal chamber ensemble based in Mansfield, and special guest Ekklesia Contemporary Ballet and include choral works by William Byrd, Caroline Shaw, Florence Price, Eric Whitacre, Ethel Smyth, the Beatles, and more. On a night where the veil between the living and the afterlife is thin, may the voices of Concinnity and the movement of dance reconnect us with ones we have lost.
Concert is Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 7:00pm at United Congregational Church in Tolland. Tickets are $20/students free.
