September 21 @ 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT
The First Congregational Church of Cheshire is inviting people to join a celebration recognizing the 300th anniversary of the church’s founding.
Party on the Green will include family-friendly attractions including children’s activities and live music. The celebration will culminate with a laser light show, put on by DynamicsFX and starting around 7:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs to enjoy this demonstration.
Band o’ Brothers, an Irish folk band, will take to the stage at 2 p.m. to kick off the event. They’ll be followed at 5 p.m. by The Cartells, who offer a lively mix of jazz, swing, motown, R&B, rock and roll, and pop tunes.
Food trucks at the event include Smokin’ Lane’s BBQ & Seafood, Smash Bay, Los Mariachis on Wheels, East Coast Pizza Truck, and Two Brothers Ice Cream. Face painting is provided by TeachArt2Me.
Plentiful parking is available at the church and nearby locations. Alcohol is prohibited at the event.
The First Congregational Church of Cheshire was established in 1724 when it became a separate parish from Wallingford. Its first meetinghouse was a log cabin, which was replaced by a second meetinghouse in 1737 on the east side of the Green. This structure was dismantled in 1826-1827, with some parts being used in the construction of the current church building; the church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
