Our Leadership Giving donors' generosity makes it possible for us to be an independent, informative and inclusive voice for Connecticut. During the past year, we have been a trusted voice for journalism, civil discourse, informative storytelling and accessible educational programming. Some of our key accomplishments are highlighted below.
Our exciting educational partnership with Gateway Community College creates a robust presence for WNPR in New Haven and expands our educational programming and opportunities for shoreline reporting.
Telling Rebuilding Stories from Puerto Rico
We're telling the stories of residents of Puerto Rico with ties to Connecticut through a new special reporting initiative of WNPR and the New England News Collaborative.
Creating for the Audience of Tomorrow
Our innovative community-first strategy has created new audiences and rebuilt connections that build trust. We're informing and strengthening under-served audiences.
Highlighting Women's Journeys to Success
Where We Live hosted an in-depth community conversation with three fascinating Connecticut women at Torrington's Warner Theatre. Lucy Nalpathanchil will host a second series of Making Her Story in the Spring of 2018.
Sharing Connecticut On Air and Online
Sharing Connecticut was launched in 2017 as a digital-first series of video short stories. They highlight and celebrate the unique people and places of our state, and reached over 100,000 people in 2017.
Launching the new CPTV Spirit
The new channel is feeding the passions of a new generation of public television viewers: Makers, Doers and Adventurers.
WNPR piloted a program to improve accessibility of public radio to the deaf and hearing impaired. We produced 24 ASL-accessible episodes with interpreters from the American School for the Deaf.
The Learning Lab's partnership with Hartford Public Schools' Journalism and Media Academy is giving students opportunities to create quality content, tell their own stories, and increase ownership over their education.
Rebranding our Stations
Our new brand clearly identifies us as Connecticut's local, independent public media resource.
